There is something about my love for vintage that finds a place past the exceptional material and darling clothes (don't get me wrong, I have Literally had heart palpitations finding loss treasures of silk and glass beads). But there is always an echo of 2 stories for me. One story is its past; full of rich history or maybe a fablouse party in which the roar of laughter and fullness of elegance seems to hover around a great wiggle dress or smart pair of gloves. The second story is its future. The opening of a Salvato Collection white box and tearing through tissue paper to pull out That dress; the one no one else has. How you'll charm the room or how a delighted new owner will hang it lovelingly up, just waiting for the perfect time to wear it.. Or maybe, a piece will get lucky enough to frame itself in an everlasting image, magazine, or portfolio....
This past winter I had the pleasure of getting to know Allie Brown through a collaboration for a spread she was doing, which found its way onto the wonderful Material Girl Magazine Dec 2014 issue.
Those who don't know Material girl Magazine, its a great it's a great fit for Salvato Collection style were imagination, romance and a bit of a day-dreamy type of feel resonates. There is a bit of quirk and charm. The best photographers get in; those who harness their skill and craft to show the world style and fashion in the most artist sense.
Every friend of mine is an artist in some way or another. I don't know, I suppose those of us loss in a vintage fairytale land, feeling out of touch with modern living and seeking a time long ago, are best suited at befriending the artist, the writer, the sculpture, the poet. So its no surprise that I have come to absolutely adore Allie Brown.
Allie is this genius whose work I had seen when cruising Vouge.com while looking at their wonderful collection of featured photographers. Even though I have come to know her as a charming and lovely person, I still will forever be a bit starstruck.
I hope you find your way to Allie and celebrate her as she is only just beginning. Though many would say; when Vogue is setting you aside in the looking glass for the world to applaud - then you have reached a photographer's Garden of Eden. Yet, this lady, is a genius and she is only just getting warmed up. She is a mastermind and full of energy; I can't wait to see how much more soul she catches on film! And you should follow her because she will make you think, she will enlighten textures and thoughts and pull you into a different world. So, click below and at least see what all my fuss is about!
