Holidays in the theater.

Every Christmas season, when the snow seemed wet and heavy, I would buckle up my new patent leather black Mary Janes with a supressed joy and excitment. It was December and that meant the 'Marshmellow World' was getting ready to bring forth curtains, bright lights and the ballet! Yes, I love the theater. I love the comfort that there remain adults so perfectly adventerous in mind and talent that they bring wonder to hearts, even childrens'. Children like I was, long ago, who already seemed only fueled by whimsy and imagination, was brought dreamy delights by these wonderful adults.

I remember getting ready for the theater, kicking on my adored knit tights and a new red dress (one with a belt,, always with a belt). The excitment was too much for me, but I liked to keep it in. Not let it out., let the happiness swirl around my heart, secret from the world. It seemed bigger if you kept it in, grander the joy when you fought to trap it inside. The crimson red and dark of the theater envoloped my tiny frame and off my heart danced across the stage. Oh! The charm., the beauty,, how bodies could soar and even fly!

Today, I have the privlige of allowing my excitment and inner child to drive my creation and life. It is the biggest validation of success. I gaurd my eyes - I watch what I watch and see. I tell my children, "If it's rated G, it's for me!" And I mean it. Being childlike and innocent and pure is a full time, intentional task as an adult. It's harder now.  The desire to pull off a Nutcracker theme will never leave me, but though I try to channel my inner innocence; it alway seems any attempt at trying a fashion shoot of the Nutcracker variety leaves me a bit ruined., with my calculated adulthood stiffening the wornder. That's what happens when your boss. Your answer this., estimate that., consider whatnots. Yes! You consdier whatnot.  And you loose the still small voice.

My latest fashion shoot came upon by accident almost. In prayer, I knew God had this all planned out for me. All the impossibles happened. The burgenty maxi skirt full of her richess paired with the perfect light and airy Victorian silk. A dash of silk ribbon hanging from a nightgown. The crowns and queens and whimsy brought together with old leather seats and 30 foot ceilings., I found it all together darling.  The location, the price, the model availablity, the clothes, the accessories... everything landed peacefully in place.

Only my God let's me fall upon an old theater., with no intentions other than to make my heart smile and envolope my self in deep red wine and creme puff whites, shadows and light. Maybe it's too early to tell. Maybe it's too much eggnog., but these wonderful clothes and background stage., brings me back to my former life as a child watching the performers dance upon the city's stage. I believe I have cracked the nut., and finally can hold, once more, the vision from my youth.
