I remember discussing with a very affluent and successful fashion magazine girl about these pieces. "Why don't you sell them?" I was questioned. My answer, "I never thought anyone would want a piece so imperfect., we work so hard to sell vintage that looks like it was just made yesterday."
I also wondered; could anyone love them as much as me? And would anyone pay top dollar for excessive vintage organic dry cleanings and restorations? The might look a bit tattered., but it took months for some of these items to be brought back as well as they are now.
Also, I thought., the very least I can do is share them with my lens. This is where the idea for this shoot was born., the idea that no one could adore imperfection as much as I., or at least be a fool as much as I and spend serious hard earned money on what others may describe as 'old rags'. But, also, I waited a few years - for the right models., the right camera, the right location.
So welcome to my tattered old pieces from my personal antique and vintage wardrobe. They are the pieces that, to me and some of us romantics, hold onto their beauty despite tears and rips and little imperfections.
Side Note: I decided to sell one of my faves, that I have treasured for 5 years at least. A simple pilgrim, rustic dress made of cotton. There are no details, just simple basic craftsmanship and beautiful cotton. Its comfort and beauty and simply amazing on or off the rack. It was in the best condition of the lot and it was my way of sharing something special with my friends and fans here. It's not just a boutique, a small shop of intake dresses., its my happy., my special joy., and so are all my fans and clients.
I hope you enjoy... xo
